Esto Town Council Addresses Insurance Cancellation in Emergency Meeting

The Esto Town Council held an emergency meeting Thursday evening, July 24 in response to a Notice of Cancellation from the Florida Municipal Insurance Trust (FMIT) due to unpaid premiums.

At the meeting, the council voted to authorize a withdrawal from the town’s emergency reserve to cover the outstanding balance. The payment will be issued Friday, July 25, in an effort to prevent cancellation of the town’s insurance coverage, which is critical to the operation of municipal services like the fire and water departments.

The council also reviewed the town’s current coverage levels and discussed options for reducing future insurance costs.
